       the fence on the far side.  “He’s also a

       bit of a show off.”


               As he came rushing back to the

       gate, Hannah backed away.  But he


       slid to a stop and reached his nose

       over the fence.


               I handed the apple to Hannah.

       “You reward him.”


               She did, and he ate it and reached

       out and nuzzled her for another one.


       “Push him and tell him to run,” I told


       her.  She did, but he didn’t move.  I

       waved my hand lightly.  “Go,


       Cashmere.  Go run!”

               He immediately raced around the


       field again and came back, breathing

       hard.  I pulled the last apple from my


       pocket and handed it to Hannah.  She

       fed it to him, and he munched it for
