him. He was given the highest rating for ethics
and couldn’t be bought. She found an article
questioning why he would not be running again
at the peak of his career. He had said it was for
personal reasons, but said no more. Rachel
assumed that it was because his mother was
getting older, and he felt he needed to be with
her.

Rachel also found an article regarding
Jacob’s family, meaning his parents and siblings.
He had only said he had no family, and
apparently no one had looked any deeper. He
had been so popular that no one expended much
