disturbing her. Rachel went into her room and
shut the door. She organized the letters
according to date and started to read.
The first letter was addressed to Camilla, as
Mother Davis had said. From there she read bits
and pieces of Jacob’s life, beginning with his
marriage to Anna. Rachel could tell from his
letters how much he loved Anna. Rachel read
about the birth of their first son, Abraham, one
year later. Then, in almost three year intervals
after that, there were Isaac, Joseph, Peter and
James. Rachel calculated their ages. They
would be from about 16 down to 4.
Mother Davis was right, the letters were
only regarding milestones in their family, but
they hardly told anything about Jacob at all.
