She went to Mother Davis with some of her
questions, but she had no more answers than
what the letters already told.

“You can bet,” Mother Davis said
confidently, “that he earned his money in an
honest way.” Rachel knew Mother Davis was
right, but questions continued to plague her. She
just had to know more.

Determined to find additional information,
she promised Emily an outing to the library. She
knew she could have Internet access there. Once
at the library, Rachel Googled “Senator Davis
Washington.”

There were thousands of links about him,
but most of it was regarding his voting record.
