and only for those who were weak.
Momentarily, Jacob looked up and glanced
around the table questioningly.
Rachel knew of Jacob’s strong feelings
about God, and though she shared those feelings,
she had raised her family without them, not
wanting to endure Matthew’s mocking. Now she
felt intensely ashamed for that decision.
Mother Davis seemed to sense what was
going on, and, as she often did, knew just what to
do. “Jacob, it has been a long time since you’ve
been in our home with us. Would you favor us
by blessing the food?”
Jacob again bowed his head and Rachel
answered the questioning looks from her children
by following suit.
