Page 10 - Save the Last Dance for Me
P. 10
When the instructor finished
talking, it was time to dance.
“Let’s start with something lively,”
he said. “Cha-cha, everyone.”
“Sherry,” I whispered, “I don’t
have a clue what the cha-cha is.”
“Just follow me and do what I
do,” she whispered back.
I tried to follow, but she was
stepping fast. She turned in, so I
turned in, but by the time I did, she
was turning out. At one point, my
foot caught her ankle, and she
started to fall. I tried to catch her,
but instead, we both went down.
Two other couples tripped over us
and fell, too. Everyone else
stopped dancing and laughed. I
wished I could disappear.
