started the class. “As you can
see,” he said, “we have an
inordinate number of girls who
have signed up for the class. When
I looked at my roll this last week in
preparation for today, I had forty-
eight girls and two boys. For girls
who asked to sign in late, I
required them to recruit a boy as
well. That put us up to fifty-four
