she said, “Maybe we shouldn’t
wait until the end of the class to
drop.”
The college felt instructors
knew what was best for students
more than students did. For that
reason, outside of the normal
registration process, a student had
to have an instructor’s permission
to sign in or out of a class. An
instructor could also waive
prerequisites. I normally wouldn’t
be able to sign into an advanced
class like this without the teacher’s
permission. But his signature on
the card Sherry had given me must
have overridden the prerequisite
requirements.
