beside me inside the fence until he

came to the edge of the pasture. Even

with my window closed I could hear

him calling to me as I continued on

       my way.

As I drove along, I suddenly

thought of Hannah. She was so

anxious when I left. I thought I had

better give her a call. I pulled into a

gas station. I searched my wallet and

the pickup and finally found a dime.

I went to the phone booth and dialed

       my home number.

               “Hello?” Hannah answered.

               “Hello, Hon,” I said.

“Are you all right?” she blurted

       into the phone.

“Oh, yes. I’m fine. In fact, that is

why I am calling. I thought you

       might be concerned.”
