I said to myself, “Cashmere, what
are you doing?”
Cashmere grew more anxious and
desperate in his whinnies as the mares
approached. Finally, just as they
moved up close, Cashmere moved
around to the other side of Tor and
pushed him toward the mares. Tor
seemed as confused as I was. It was
as if Cashmere was saying, “You
want them, you got them.”
The mares tried to push past Tor,
but Cashmere kept Tor between him
and them as much as possible. Then,
suddenly, he broke free and headed
around the pasture again.
I wondered if he would ever get
tired of running, but he never seemed
to. He would only give himself time
to rest, and he was ready to go again.
