“What happened? Did he try to
attack you? Is he mean?”
I laughed. “Not to me. With me
he is as gentle as a lamb.”
“What do you mean ‘with you?’”
“I’ll tell you all about it when I
get home. I still need to feed the
other horses before I come.”
“Okay. It will be good to have
you back safely home.”
I could sense the relief in her
voice as she said that. I hurried over
to the other horses and took care of
them. When I finished, I decided I
should go back around by the pasture
and check to make sure everything
was well there. The fences weren’t
good enough to hold Cashmere if he
decided to go over them. I filled a
small bucket with grain, and then
