nose. “Well, Old Buddy, I thought I
had seen some interesting animal
dynamics, but this one takes the
cake.”
I had watched them for way too
long and knew I should get to other
work. I scratched his nose for
another minute. “You be good here,
Buddy, and I’ll be back later today to
check on you.”
I started to leave, and he grew
anxious. He started whinnying to me.
I went back and petted him just a bit
more. “You’ll be okay. I’ve got to
go take care of the other horses.”
I climbed into my pickup, and I
almost feared his concern would
cause him to go through the gate to
get to me. I started down the road in
my pickup, and he ran the whole way
