pawed open air near Cashmere’s


       underbelly.  But Cashmere struck

       downward, hitting Tor on top of the


       head, dropping him to his knees.

               The mares had moved back, and


       their whinnying and snorting sounded

       like cheerleaders cheering their


       favorite fighter.  The way they swung

       their heads and pranced, I think they


       wanted Cashmere to win, though they

       seemed reluctant to antagonize Tor in


       case things turned out in his favor.


               I thought that Tor would quit after

       being knocked to the ground, but he


       seemed to know that if he lost this

       battle, he would lose his position


       forever, and he quickly scrambled up.

               Cashmere had moved to make a


       run again, but once more Tor blocked

       his path.  Being stopped from running
