I grabbed my fencing tools and
walked along the fence line. The
fence along the road was actually the
best one, but there were a few staples
missing. I tacked them back up and
then climbed through the fence to
check out the other three sides.
I hadn’t gone too far when I
realized I was being tailed. I turned,
and Cashmere was right behind me.
Once I stopped, he nuzzled me.
“Okay, okay,” I said. “I do have
apples for you. But you’ve got to go
run to get one.”
As if he totally understood what I
said, he took off for a lap around the
pasture. I marveled again at his speed
and grace. With his head high and
his tail arched, he was amazing to
