and spoke softly. “Jacob, please understand. I
don’t love you any less because I want to stay
here. I am old and need to keep some semblance
of normalcy in my life. Please don’t make me
leave.”
Jacob sighed deeply. “Mother, I would
never make you do anything you didn’t want to
do. You are free to live here as long as you like.”
There was a question that was eating at
Rachel. She was afraid to ask, but she knew she
had to. “Jacob, where are you building your
home?”
He looked directly at her, and stiffly spoke
the answer she was already too sure of. “We are
building up on Pine Ridge, overlooking Jensen
Lake. I have also bought the Jensen ranch from
