“I sent him a telegram. He never shared his
phone number with me.”
A lot of things started to come together for
Rachel. “That is how you knew there was a man
who would buy your house and still let you stay
in it, isn’t it?” she asked.
Mother Davis nodded. “I knew we could
trust Jacob. Even though he might not owe either
of us anything, I knew he would help us. He paid
almost twice what it appraised for to give us
more to live on.”
