who were rich, famous, and powerful. With all
of his money, his own home was probably
elegant.

The children moved to stand by their
mother, and Jacob’s attention shifted to them.
Pointing at the two oldest, Rachel introduced
them. “Jacob, I’d like you to meet my two sons.
This is John; he’s eleven. And this is David; he’s
seven.” Then she reached behind herself and
gently pulled her little daughter into view. “And
this is Emily. We call her Emmy. She’s almost
four.”

Jacob smiled a big smile as Emily slid back
behind her mother and peered shyly out at him.
His smile reminded Rachel of how she
remembered him.

Jacob knelt down and motioned to Emily.
