The old man looked concerned as
I worked my arm to loosen my
shoulder. He followed me as I turned
to finish the feeding. “Well, aren’t
you a stubborn young buck. If I had
taken a blow like that, I would have
said to heck with the horses and
headed home.”
“I am a married college student,
and I really need this job,” I told him.
“Besides, I love horses.”
“Well, I do, too,” he replied.
“But a horse like that young stallion
will never be any good. If he will
attack like he did, there is only one
place for him, and that is heading
down the road.”
I must admit that I agreed with
him that Dader needed to be sold.
