Because I continued to shake, he
was concerned that I was in shock. I
told him I felt I was fine, but when I
tried to sit up to show him, everything
started spinning, and I flopped onto
my back again.
He wanted to call an ambulance,
but I told him I didn’t have money for
that and would be fine once my head
cleared. He found an old horse
blanket and laid it over me. I lay
there for a few more minutes. Finally
the shivering began to subside, as did
the throbbing in my shoulder, and my
mind felt more alert.
As I sat up a second time,
everything spun just briefly, and then
settled. I eventually stood, tested my
arm, and was sure nothing was
broken, though I figured some
