would likely be trampled. Finally,
knowing I couldn’t hold on much
longer, when his feet hit the ground, I
swung my leg over and pushed hard
away from him, afraid I might land
under his hooves.
I landed on my feet, but I was off
balance, and I fell to my backside.
With the people now a safe distance
away, his attention turned to me, and
he seemed concerned that I was hurt.
He stepped over to me and nuzzled
me. I grabbed his head, and he pulled
me clear off the ground before I could
let go.
I started rubbing his head. “Good
boy!”
One man called out to me, “Are
you okay?”
“Yes.” But, then, as the people
