She couldn’t say any more. She had spoken
the prayer from the depths of her heart more than
ever before in her life. She wondered if God felt
about her like Jacob did, since she had turned her
back on him too. She lay there on her back in the
house looking at the twinkling stars. She stayed
there for a long time.

      Her heart gradually grew calm in the
serenity and the stillness of the evening, and she
felt that God had heard her.
