piles of snow. With most of the snow now gone, this snow was more valuable. It was fun to get a snowball and sneak up on someone and let them have it. I grabbed a big chunk of ice to suck on off of an old combine as I crossed the pasture. Jason told me I shouldn’t suck on them because birds pooped on the machinery, and the water washing off is what formed the icicles. He thinks just because I am young I will believe anything. I couldn’t see any bird poop in the ice. There was a meadow that looked like a big lake of yellow where the flowers grew. I ran out into the middle of it and took a deep breath. Besides the flowers, I could also smell the mint that grew along the ditch banks. I closed my eyes and enjoyed the smells. Soon I had filled the whole wagon full of yellow buttercups and dandelions. I knew I should start back, but the perfume of the flowers and warmth of the sun made me sleepy, and I wanted to lie down. I flopped down on my back, and watched the clouds rolling a picture show across the giant blue sky. Tippy chased butterflies not too far away, and I could hear the munch, munch of Nosey eating grass by my feet. The world became quieter and quieter. Suddenly, I felt a blast of warm air, and a slimy drizzle on my face that made me gag. As I awoke, a cow scraped her rough tongue across my face. I screamed, and the cows scattered, bellowing and stumbling. They tipped over my little red wagon, as they headed to the far side of the pasture as a thundering herd. The sun was no longer straight overhead, and I was hungry. I set my little red wagon upright, gathered up the flowers, and put them back in. Someone called my name.
