              Good job.”


                      “Thanks, Coach,” I replied.


                      Coach was not one to pass out

              compliments easily, and he quickly


              added, “Now let’s see if you can


              translate that into wrestling wins.”


                      My fall start in collegiate


              wrestling had only been mediocre,


              and I knew what he meant.  His


              words took a little of the wind out

              of my sails.


                      When everyone was finished


              running, we went to the wrestling


              room.  The rest of wrestling


              practice was much as usual: work

              until you can hardly stand, and


              then run a mile on the stairs.  Most


              of the team snuck away after only
