     At three-o’clock, I headed to
              wrestling practice.
                      Our wrestling coach had told
              us to keep in shape over Christmas,
              and I had worked hard.  I had been
              running five miles every morning
              and doing conditioning in the
              evening.  So, when he announced
              that we were all going to run a mile
              and a half, I felt up to the
              challenge.  Most of the others
              groaned and complained.
                      “Stop your whining,” Coach
              said, “and get your Christmas flab
              down to the fieldhouse.”
                      I preferred to run the outdoor
              track, but it was three feet deep in
              snow, so the fieldhouse was our
              only option.  The indoor track was
