registrar’s office. But Sherry

showed me the card with my name

on it, all signed by the teacher—I

only had to fill in my student

number and add my signature. I

thought it was very kind of her to

go to all that work so I didn’t have

to. I learned later that she thought

I would back out if she didn’t.

But then something else

crossed my mind. “But, Sherry, I

thought you said he wouldn’t sign

our cards unless there was a girl

and a boy?”

“What I said,” Sherry replied,

“is that he wouldn’t sign in a girl

without a boy. He’ll sign in all the
