The first realization a person should gain from this is that the
Jaredites lived in the western hemisphere far longer than the Nephites. If
they crossed the ocean around 2250 BC and survived until the Mulekites
found Coriantumr, this was likely more than 1600 years. On the other
hand, the Nephites were in the Americas for around a thousand years.
The Jaredite time on the American continent could have even been
substantially longer than 1600 years for two reasons. First, they could have
come earlier than we are estimating if the flood and Tower of Babel were
at the earlier end of the suggested time frame. The second reason is that
we don’t know how long the Jaredite culture overlapped with the Mulekites
and Nephites. It could have been from a few years to decades to possibly
even a century or more. The Nephite and Mulekite nations existed on the
same continent for around 450 years before Mormon brought the Mulekites
