apple and petted him. “You’re a

good boy, Cash.”

I then climbed out through the

fence and turned to talk to him.

“Cashmere, I want you to meet

someone.”

I split another apple, and then

walked to where Brenda was.

“Here,” I said to her. “Take this

piece of apple in one hand and link

your other arm through mine.”

She did as I said, and then we

turned to walk toward Cashmere. I

talked to him the whole time we

approached. “Cashmere, this is

Brenda. She is my friend, and wants

to be your friend, too.”

As we kept coming, I kept

talking. He snorted a little bit, and
