she would trust me, I would take her
there. She smiled and reached out her
hand, which I linked through my arm.
Donna joined us, and I explained the
situation. The three of us walked
slowly, so the lady could keep pace,
though my heart was racing as the time
was flying by. Eventually we reached
the bank, and she said from there she
would be fine.
She offered to pay me, but I
refused. “Just pass the favor on,” I told
her.
She smiled at me. “You’re not
from around here, are you?”
I told her I wasn’t. “I thought not,”
she said. “It seems only a perfect
stranger to our area would be kind
enough to stop and help.”
