open range, not as a cow of course, but
our home was the only one for miles. I
was used to flat, sagebrush covered
land. To me, every city street looked
the same.
I let Donna drive, partially because
I was not used to SUV’s borrowing the
front bumper of my Toyota pickup as a
fender ornament when they changed
lanes, and partially because I had
absolutely no clue where we were
going. As luck would have it, the
directions she remembered were under
construction, and soon we were
hopelessly lost. She found a gas
station, and I gallantly went in to ask
directions.
We were already a half hour late, so
it was with great relief that I learned we
