She would never forget the night she let
Matthew kiss her. He had brought her such
expensive gifts and was so demanding. She
hadn’t been excited about the kiss — in fact, it
disgusted her. But, when she turned and realized
that Jacob had seen it, she felt ashamed, and
knew she had made a big mistake. Devastated,
Jacob stormed out of the house. She considered
running after him, but was too ashamed and
embarrassed. Oh, how she wished she had. She
decided that she would apologize to him when
she saw him the next day.
But that opportunity never came. Typically
he would come over to her house at six o’ clock,
right after work. But six o’ clock came, then
seven o’ clock, then eight o’ clock, and still
