The father was quiet for some time, until Deanne
asked if he was still on the line. Finally, when he did
speak, his voice was quiet and tense. “Can I check on her
home address?”
“I cannot tell you the address due to privacy,”
Deanne replied, “but if you tell me your address, I can tell
you if it is the same.”
The man told her his address, and Deanne verified
that it was also the home address of the young lady listed.
“You mean,” the man asked, “that I have been paying
for my daughter to live there for three years and she has not
taken a single class? What has she been doing?”
“I can’t tell you about what you’ve paid or what she
has been doing,” Deanne said. “All I can tell you is that
she has not taken any classes.”
“Well,” he said tersely, “I can tell you something! It
is definitely time for a little father-daughter talk!”
