week. The cars eased around us, honking at us like they thought we had just parked there for fun. Finally, all of us, with the exception of Buster, got out and pushed it off the main road. We thought our ride was over and we could walk back to the church, when again the car fired up. Why we let Buster talk us into climbing back in, I can’t recall, but it must have been some lapse of mental reasoning, for soon we were riding along again. The slightest pebble in the road made the back end bounce, and it would hit pavement, with the trunk banging away. We would continue to bounce and bang for another half mile. Buster suggested we find a country road so “we could open it up”. We found a desolate road, and he floored it. The engine roared and the car chugged forward. Pretty soon we were was rattling like we would come apart, and so was the car. I looked at the speedometer, and we were going a whopping 40 miles per hour. By the time we reached the end of the road, I knew my body would never recover. 27
