gone. I stepped through and pulled
the bar fast, but my anxiousness made
me lose my grasp. I grabbed it again
and pulled, hooking it into the wire
that held it. I turned to scramble
through the gate, but it was too late.
He came sliding to a stop right in
front of me.
If I thought he was big before, he
now seemed monstrous as he stood
over me, looking down at me. My
heart raced as I trembled. If he rose
and struck at me I would have no way
to defend myself.
But he reached out his big nose
and nuzzled me, breathing a hard
breath from his run into my neck. It
tickled, but I couldn’t laugh. I was
too scared. I didn’t respond, so he
