way, and almost instantly he came
out of the trailer. He blinked in the
light briefly, and then he reared,
stretching himself, happy to be free of
the small enclosure.
I stood tight against the trailer for
safety as I looked on in awe. Once he
stepped out into the light, I could see
how massive he truly was. I had
never been close to a horse that was
as tall as he was. I didn’t even know
race horses grew that tall. Although I
was at a distance from him, I was
sure he was taller than I was at his
shoulders. I figured he was at least
18 hands and maybe even 19 hands
tall.
When he reared, he could have
put the whole front half of himself on
top of the horse trailer. I also
