same way Deanne had typed it in. “Sir,” she
informed him, “the only account I show under
that name has not been active for three years.
The only payment on the account is an
application fee of $20. It shows that the student
was accepted, but we show no record of her
ever coming to school. She has never registered
for any class or anything.”
The father was quiet for some time, until
Deanne asked if he was still on the line.
Finally, when he did speak, his voice was quiet
and tense. “Can I check on her home address?”
“I cannot tell you the address due to
privacy,” Deanne replied, “but if you tell me
your address, I can tell you if it is the same.”
The man told her his address, and Deanne
verified that it was also the home address of the
young lady listed.
