I mean, not one to get in trouble with, but one I could go to the zoo with.” Tom slid out of his chair and down on the floor beside her. “Oh, really? What part of the zoo do you like best?” “I don’t know. I’ve never been there.” Tom couldn’t believe it. “You’ve never been to the zoo?” “Nope. Not that I can remember.” “How about the circus? Surely you’ve been there?” “Nope.” “How about the amusement park?” “What’s that?” Emily asked. “What’s that?” Tom repeated in surprise. “That’s where they have things like merry-go-rounds, miniature golf, and all sorts of things!” “That sounds like fun,” Emily said. “But I’ve never been.” “Well,” Tom said, “we’re going to have to remedy that.” “What does remedy mean?” “That means we’re going to have to go!” Emily looked over at her little brother playing in the play pen. “Could Timmy come too?” 46
