splotch dripped down onto her nice, new blouse. She
wiped her face and then looked down at her blouse.
When she looked up, we could see that we were in a
heap of trouble.

      Buster said something that I thought was very
wise. He said, “Run!”

      We took off across the north pasture as fast as we
could go. Butch, who had thrown the potato and who
was also quite chubby, didn’t get a good start and was
soon falling behind.

      Old Granny was one tough lady from her years of
working in the mines. Once the shock wore off, she
was after us like a jackrabbit on the open prairie. She
was gaining quickly. I panted to Buster, “I don’t think
we can outrun your grandma.”

      He just kept running as he replied, “We don’t
have to. We only have to outrun Butch, and she will
catch him.”

      Well, she caught Butch, and we thought she was
