             Our guide interpreted for us and said the men were willing to take
      us to the other islands on our itinerary.  It was just ten dollars per person.
      Most of the group started questioning whether such a boat would float, but
      I was eager to try it.  I was first in line to pay my ten dollars, afraid it
      would fill up.  But I needn’t have worried.  Only about five of us took the
      opportunity.  Our tour guide told us it was perfectly safe, but our group
      leader had his doubts.  Just for safe measure, we retrieved our life jackets
      from our motorboat and put them on.

             Since the men would row us across the lake instead of motoring
      like our modern boat, they suggested we get a head start.  As the five of us
      loaded up, we had to endure the teasing from the others in our group.

             “See you at the bottom,” someone yelled.

             “Hope you make it back to the mainland sometime before next
      week when we leave,” another called out.
             It seemed like everyone had to add their two bits of wisdom, though
      for some it was quite a bit less in value than two bits.  Many of them said
      they wouldn’t trust anything that didn’t use modern technology.  Ignoring
