She seemed very concerned. “I
will take care of him today. You
worry about the other horses.”
I told her I didn’t think she should
go in there, but she laughed. “Don’t
worry about me. I’ll be careful, and
I’ve never met a horse I couldn’t
handle.”
I went to my work cleaning the
other horse barns. I had barely begun
when I heard Dader snort. It
triggered an instant memory, and
something inside of me said “run!” I
threw myself over the fence and sped
across the yard, grabbing a shovel on
my way. In seconds I was at Dader’s
pen where I could see Brenda on her
back and Dader starting to rear above
her.
