I whistled and patted my leg.
“Here, Pointer. Here, boy.”
The dog ignored me and continued
to chew on the shoe. The farmer grew
disgusted. “Birdbrain, get your tail
over here.” The dog immediately
jumped up and trotted to us.
And with that, I knew his dog
would soon be named “Birdbrain”, for
that is how farm dogs get their names.
