barely have time to get there for a small
amount of makeup before we were to
go on. But my pickup wouldn’t start.
By lifting the hood and working the
wires on the battery, it wasn’t too long
before I had us on our way. By then I
knew we were going to be late, and to
top it off, my hands were covered with
oil.
By the time we arrived, the play
was already underway. My daughter
and I had to rush to our first scenes
with no makeup and no costumes. As
soon as it was over, we rushed back to
the makeup room to try to be
transformed before our main scenes. I
was still trying to pull on my costume,
and the makeup lady had only one side
of my face done, when the nervous,
