“Bryce, it’s not noon yet,” I


              said.


                      “How is someone supposed to


              sleep when you come prancing in

              from work at three o'clock in the


              morning and then get up at five?”


              he growled.


                      I laughed.  “You were sound


              asleep when I got up.”


                      “Yeah, but my bladder wasn’t.”


                      I sat down and started to do

              calculus problems.  It wasn’t too


              long until Joe came out.  Joe had


              strong religious convictions, much


              like me.  He was engaged, and he


              and his fiancée, Rochelle, spent a

              lot of time together.  Both of them


              were nice to me, and Joe and I


              often put our food together for
