had sprained her ankle, but it
instantly healed when another guy
asked her. One girl had something
in her eye but was able to clear it
away when another boy came
along. One girl told me she was
sick and didn’t want to give me her
cold, though she was obviously
willing for the next boy that asked
her to catch it.
Eventually, every boy had a
partner except Rand and me, and
he was the only boy even half as
awkward as I was. Shanae was the
only girl left who didn’t have a
partner. I liked Shanae well
enough. She was a nice girl. Also,
she wore thick glasses and was
nearly blind, and I thought that
