“Wire,” Lenny whispered,

reaching his hand out from under the

pickup. Butch dutifully handed the

wire to him. “Pliers,” Lenny said,

sounding much like a doctor in

surgery. Again, Butch handed the

requested item. This continued until

Lenny declared the job completed

and slid out from under the pickup.

The three of them retraced their

steps back in the direction they had

come, and, for the first time in all of

their attempted pranks on Lenny’s

uncle, they made it safely away.
