because, just then, another girl came in. I
recognized her from my calculus class. She
was really smart. She was also very pretty, and
Phil immediately went to visit with her.
He smiled his most charming smile. “Is it
hot in here, or is it just you?”
The girl turned from her studies, fixed her
big brown eyes on him, and spoke with disgust.
“Did you break your leg, or are you always this
lame?”
Phil came back, totally shocked at his
failure. This time it was me that grinned.
“Well, Phil,” I said. “I think I could really fall
for that girl.”
