had about fifty skulls, was probably
the oldest I visited. As I visited other
homes in the valley, I found that most
of them only had a few skulls, almost
none of which had been shrunk like
those in the first house. But every
home I entered had at least two and
followed the same tradition.
The owner of one home spoke a
fair amount of English and was able
to explain more about their ancestral
traditions.
“We have day like what you call
Halloween. We call Day of Dead.”
“What do you do on the Day of
the Dead?” I asked.
